MY LANDSCAPE BLOG
Landscape & Travel Photographer & Filmmaker in Tokyo, Japan, Asia.
Photography from a few of the places I have been. Japan, Australia, Asia and elsewhere. Some of it is my artwork. Some were commercial assignments and some were just happy snaps along the way.
One of my passions is landscape photography and although photography and filmmaking is my work it is also my hobby. I love traveling and being amongst nature and get a great thrill from finding and photographing epic landscapes in beautiful light.
Australia from the air. Stills from a film project
I was commissioned to film and create this landscape video installation for the new headquarters of the Commonwealth bank in Sydney Australia. Whilst currently living in Tokyo Japan it was great to have the opportunity to travel all round my home country of Australia to photograph and film this project. These are still photos taken from the film. It was a great project and took me to some of the remotest locations that I had never photographed before. We filmed from a drone and a helicopter shooting 6.5K RAW footage to capture highly detailed imagery that displays all the amazing colours of the Australian continent.
Landscape Photography. Daintree and Cairns, Australia.
I visited the area of Cairns and the Daintree rainforest for a few days for a an aerial film I was shooting. It was amazing!!! ( although living in Australia a lot of my life I hadn’t bee there before). The one thing I found hard was not being able to go in the water for the fear of being eaten by a crocodile or killed by a box jellyfish.
Landscape Photography. The Great Australian Bight. South Australia.
I headed to the Great Australian Bight for one night and two days an an extremely tight schedulE. I wish I could have stayed longer. Unfortunately the weather was really grey but it was still an amazing place to visit. It feels like you are standing on the edge of the world.
Landscape Photography. On the Road in the Kimberley.
Driving through the Kimberley was an amazing experience. I just wish I had more time to sop and appreciate it. I was filming and photographing for an art installation project with a really tight schedule. But the beauty of that country really captured me and I hope to go back some time soon!!
Palm Valley, Central Australia.
When I went to visit palm valley it was 45 degrees celsius. I went for an hour long hike with 3 litres of water just in case. It was an amazing place rivaling iconic places such as monument valley in America and Ulluru in Australia.
Travel Photography. On the road, Exmouth, Western Australia.
I love being out in the middle of nowhere which is easy to do in Australia. When I went to Exmouth in western Australia to film for a commercial project we had to drive 600 kilometres to try to get away from the windy weather. which wouldn’t allow us to fly the drone. It’s really amazing how vast and desolate the Australian landscape is. To be honest it was so flat and bare there wasn’t much to photograph apart from the emptiness. But when we did eventually get the drone ip into the sky it it looked really amazing!!
Landscape Photography. The Kimberley (near lake Argyle), Australia
The Kimberley (although I have only seen a little) is amazing!!!! One of the most beautiful landscapes in Australia. I can’t wait to go back. I was there to do some filming but managed to do a few quick photos in between shoots.
Landscape Photography, Southside beach (next to Bells beach), Victoria, Australia.
On a quick trip down the Great Ocean road for a commercial shoot I stopped at Southside beach as the sun was sinking in the sky. It was a very rough and windy day and I loved the way the sun was hitting the outside breakers. I managed to photograph a nice shots before rushing further down the coast for the shoot.
Landscape Photography, Lightning over the Kimberley.
I had been out filming from 4am and was completely exhausted as I drove back to Kununurra in the evening. But when I saw this Electrical storm brewing in the distance I knew I had to stop and find a high vantage point to photograph it from. It was well worth the effort as this storm developed into real beauty. It was great to capture the raw power of nature in some beautiful photos.
